100 marathons in 100 days

Video:  Man runs 100 marathons in 100 days

Recently I came across an interesting story.  Daren Wendell has just ran 100 marathons in 100 days to raise money and awareness about the need for clean water in certain parts of Africa.  During his incredible journey, Daren went through 30 pairs of running shoes.  Yikes! I could not imagine how tough it would be to run one marathon, let alone 100 consecutively.  I think that it is amazing that he would go to such great lengths to help other people out when most people won't even hold a door open for someone.  Daren has restored my faith in humanity and reminds me that helping others is something that we should always strive to do.  Not that everyone should run 100 marathons to help others out, but we should definitely make it a point to help people in need.

  1. This is absolutely crazy. In high school I played basketball, and every weekend we had to run to the beach from our gym. Although it was a little under 4 miles both ways, I felt my legs were the consistency of jelly only half way to the beach. It must feel amazing to be in that type of shape.

  2. I agree, we don't all have to run 100 marathons in 100 days but at least help out some way or another maybe donate or just raise awareness of something anything literally helps.

  3. I think I would rather donate money or my time than run 100 marathons (I did run one once though). I know that most organizations say that the best way to help is to give money, but that always seems too simplistic.

Anyway, Moranda, thank you for keeping up with your blog all term. I look forward to your portfolio.

  4. This is amazing, I can't even imagine running 100 marathons in 100 days. I can barely even think about going to the gym. Wendell inspired me in a way because it is crazy what people can do when they put their mind to it. This story makes me want to do something for 100 days just to see the trials and tribulations it may cause.
